Is the helmet of salvation for just eternal life, or does salvation include my spirit, soul, and body. What did Jesus pay for? The armor of God.

We have been talking about the armor of God for 4 weeks now. We have a blog and video on the belt of truth, and the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of peace, and the shield of faith. Now we get to the verse that says take the helmet of salvation. That’s all it says in the passage about the armor of God. Like it’s no big deal. But it is! What is a helmet for? Its to protect your amazing head, your brain! Why would salvation be in the brain. Well, its not technically. But we have a choice, a free will choice, with our mind and will (which combined with emotions is our soul). We get to choose to receive salvation. We need to know that it’s an option. We need to have used our ears (or eyes), and heard the word of God, and actually let it sink in until it was real, and then act on it. We need to decide to put on that helmet. To receive the free gift of salvation that Jesus paid for, that’s for everyone everywhere. I choose to put on the helmet, and not let anything or anyone convince me otherwise, how about you?
I am saved. I have salvation. I use my mind and my mouth to speak that. What does it mean. Sozo, saved (soteria), means saved, whole, healed, delivered, and restored. It is such an awesome word. Jesus carried and bore for us, our griefs, sorrows, sickness and disease (from Isaiah 53:4). He bore and carried both mental and physical maladies. He paid for our sins, He was punished so that we could have peace, and he was whipped, so that we could be physically healed (from Isaiah 53:5). In John 19:30, Jesus says “It is finished”, because He completed that which is came to accomplish, destroying the works of the enemy, and He gave up His spirit (from John 19:30, and 1 John 3:8). God cares about us spirit, soul, and body. God has sanctified us completely, and He desires that our entire spirit, soul, and body. And God is the faithful one who does it! (from 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). We get to receive his free gift of life and walk in it. When it says that we are sanctified, it means that we are set apart, for God’s purposes, consecrated. We have a purpose, it is to receive God’s love, to pour it back to Him, and pour it on to others, to shine His light, to glorify our father in heaven, and to spread His kingdom here.
So let’s acknowledge the helmet of salvation, wholeness, completeness, deliverance, healing, and restoration that we have on. Let’s realize that we are protecting our minds from believing anything else. We need to walk in the newness of life. We need to keep our minds on the truth, where our loins are girded about with truth, which is the protection and renewing of our mind, or the girding our mind with truth (1 Peter 1:13). The truth that we are set free of the power of sin over our lives. That Christ has paid the penalty or fine that was due us. He paid it on our behalf. Let’s acknowledge and receive it.
If we are going to realize what we have, we need to keep our minds on Christ, where there is life. Scripture says that “Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,” Romans 8:5-6 BSB. Let’s have life and peace.
We received salvation, because we took hold of it after Jesus paid for it. So to honor what He did, let’s walk in it. Let’s die to that old self and “count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus” Romans 6:11 BSB. We choose to submit to God, and let God be our master, “for sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace” Romans 6:14 BSB.
This is a snapshot of the awesomeness of the helmet of salvation. Watch below to hear more scriptures and thoughts on the subject. And take the helmet of salvation for yourself. If you do not actually know Jesus, please reach out to me, I do not get offended, you can ask me anything about Jesus. If you know God, but don’t know the extent of what He paid for, and are surprised that salvation means saved, whole, healed, delivered, and restored, and that God cares about you; spirit, soul, and body, reach out to me. Or just join us, and start asking questions. It’s great to learn that you can break down lies about God, and walk in newness of life, and freedom and salvation that He paid for you to have.
