I just wanted to share my notes that go through 2 scriptures about keeping our mind on the Lord and how we will be kept in peace and life when we do that! (Isaiah 26:3 and Romans 8:5-6)
And in bold near the bottom are the same scriptures with definitions added in! Enjoy
Keep my mind of God!
Isaiah 26:3
NIV: You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
NASB: the steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
TPT: Perfect absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you.
NKJV: You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You
· Peace: Shalom: completeness, soundness, welfare, peace.
o So perfect peace, is also being whole, and well, and sound mind!
o Strongs also says: well, favor, friend, great, good health, perfect, Or shalom {shaw-lome'}; from shalam; safe, i.e. (figuratively) well, happy, friendly; also (abstractly) welfare, i.e. Health, prosperity, peace -- X do, familiar, X fare, favour, + friend, X great, (good) health, (X perfect, such as be at) peace(-able, -ably), prosper(-ity, -ous), rest, safe(-ty), salute, welfare, (X all is, be) well, X wholly.
o So it basically means to be healthy, happy and whole body and soul!
· Mind: Yetser: a form, framing, purpose 3336 in strongs
o Strongs: frame, thing framed, imagination, mind, work From yatsar; a form; figuratively, conception (i.e. Purpose) -- frame, thing framed, imagination, mind, work.
o From 3335 yāṣar - To form, fashion, create, squeeze into a mold as of a potter, And its used in Genesis 2:7 about our being formed by dust by God, and Jeremiah 1:5 that talks about God knowing us before he formed us in our mothers womb.
o So Mind – or Yetser, is our imagination, and our mind, that we use to conceive things, and to frame or form things in our life. Or just to frame and form our life.
God will keep me in perfect, absolute peace, and will keep me whole and healthy body and soul, when I keep my mind, my imagination, that can form and conceive things in life, stayed or steadfastly focused on Him, because I trust in him!!!
· Stayed on (or steadfast): samak: to lean, lay, rest, support…
· Strongs: bear up, establish, uphold, lay, lean, lie hard, put, rest self, A primitive root; to prop (literally or figuratively); reflexively, to lean upon or take hold of (in a favorable or unfavorable sense) -- bear up, establish, (up-)hold, lay, lean, lie hard, put, rest self, set self, stand fast, stay (self), sustain.
· So it’s not just focused, its leaning into God, its laying, being supported by God, resting on God. Having Him hold us up. Wow
Trust: batach: to trust
· Strongs: be bold confident, secure, sure, careless one, put confidence, make to hope, put, A primitive root; properly, to hie for refuge (but not so precipitately as chacah); figuratively, to trust, be confident or sure -- be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.
· So we are trusting God enough to make us secure in our foundation, sure of Gods character and plans, free, and we can have hope.
God will keep me in perfect, absolute peace, and will keep me whole and healthy body and soul; when I keep my mind, my imagination, that can form and conceive things in life, stayed or steadfastly focused on Him, which also means when I keep my mind leaning into God, and supported by God, resting on God, . And I can do all this because I trust in in Him, because I’m confident of His goodness and character, and I can put my hope in Him.
New testament similar verse, but different root word as its Greek, not Hebrew:
Romans 8:5-6 ESV: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
· Minds: from phroneó: to have understanding, to think
o Strongs: From phren; to exercise the mind, i.e. Entertain or have a sentiment or opinion; by implication, to be (mentally) disposed (more or less earnestly in a certain direction); intensively, to interest oneself in (with concern or obedience) -- set the affection on, (be) care(-ful), (be like-, + be of one, + be of the same, + let this) mind(-ed), regard, savour, think.
So I want to earnestly and intensely set my mind, thoughts, interest, and understanding on the things of the Spirit! For when I do that, I will have life and peace
· Life: zóé. 2222. All physical and spiritual life throughout the universe, always and only comes from and sustained by God’s self-existent life. The Lord intimately shares His gift of life with people, creating each in His image which gives all the capacity to know His eternal life.
· Peace: One, peace, quietness, rest
o 1515eirḗnē (from eirō, "to join, tie together into a whole") – properly, wholeness, i.e. when all essential parts are joined together; peace (God's gift of wholeness)
When I earnestly and intensely set my mind, thoughts, interest and understanding on the things of the Spirit, my life will be sustained by God, and I will have peace, rest, quietness, and my spirit will be one with the spirit of Jesus, and I will be whole!

Thank you! My favorite takeaway is this translation of Isaiah 26:3 "Perfect absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you."
